ZEPHYR MK2 GTX MID

The ZEPHYR MK2 GTX MID represents the next stage in the evolution of this legendary mission boot. Its combination of agility, lightness, and stability makes it ideal for use in outdoor, military, or police special units or by regular use. The MID-CUT upper provides the necessary support during fast roping and allows full freedom of movement during close combat. The upper is made from a combination of water-repellent, tear-resistant suede, and abrasion-resistant, breathable CORDURA® material. An innovative locking hook allows the lacing to be indi­vidually adjusted in the forefoot and ankle area. The waterproof, highly breathable GORE-TEX Extended Comfort footwear laminate is ideal for use in moderate or relatively wet envir­onments. The dual-layer PU midsole with a MONOWRAP® frame surrounds and supports the foot like an exoskeleton.

  The ZEPHYR MK2 GTX MID is certified as occu­pa­tional footwear in accordance with EN ISO 20347:2012. It is anti-static and has a cold and heat-insu­lating sole complex. The outsole is not only anti-slip – it is also resistant to oil, petrol, and contact heat.

SOLE 

 

The sole meets the highest anti-slip standards. Slip protection depends primarily on the design and rubber compound of the outsole. The shoe provides optimal slip protection on slick, wet, and oily surfaces, as well as a good grip on the terrain.

Poly­urethane (PU)

Poly­urethane (PU) is a soft plastic that has very good cush­ioning prop­erties and is usually used in the midsole as a result. Through the use of PU, the soles become light­weight and func­tionally flexible.

INSOLE

Approx. 9% Polyamide

Poly­amides are plastics that are synthesized and can be used to produce man-made fibers as a result. In addition to their toughness, poly­amides are known for their form stability, tear and abrasion resistance, and waterproof qualities. Poly­amides are also elastic, very stretchy, and high gloss.

Approx. 90% Poly­urethane (PU)

Poly­urethane (PU) is a soft plastic that has very good cush­ioning prop­erties and is usually used in the midsole as a result. Through the use of PU, the soles become light­weight and func­tionally flexible.

UPPER MATERIAL

Approx. 80% Suede leather

Suede leather comes from the flesh side of the hide. It has a looser fiber structure, a quality that creates a velvety surface, and a light pile. Suede leather is partic­ularly durable and open-pored. Depending on the desired look, suede leather can remain untreated or be oiled or waxed.

Approx. 20% Fabric

Our natural and synthetic fabrics facilitate optimal warming and moisture management with the help of their usage-specific char­ac­ter­istics. Thanks to their structural design, they are smooth and make our products extremely comfortable.

LINING MATERIAL

Guar­anteed weather protection even during warm temper­atures: The ZEPHYR MK2 GTX MID is equipped with a GORE-TEX extended comfort footwear membrane. The innovative tech­nology delivers optimal waterproof protection and breath­ability.

  The membrane provides reliable waterproof protection. No matter what sort of activity you may be planning, you can count on GORE-TEX tech­nology to keep your feet pleasantly dry.

• High breath­ability
  Designed with optimal breath­ability in mind, GORE-TEX shoes are a pleasure to wear even during intense activities and warm weather. Water cannot penetrate the footwear, and moisture produced inside the shoe escapes through billions of pores in the GORE-TEX membrane.

• Windproof
  The GORE-TEX membrane dependably fights off the wind and the weather. As a result, you can head off on a tour no matter what the weather is like.

FUNCTIONS

With the LOWA-MONOWRAP® frame, the midsole of the ZEPHYR MK2 GTX MID provides the very best comfort. This three-dimen­sional midsole design was developed by LOWA in 1995. The frame comfortably cradles the foot and supports it when the shoe wearer ventures across uneven surfaces. The sole design is slightly raised for shoes with a STABILITY FRAME.

• Good guidance for the foot
  The foot is optimally nestled into the shoe thanks to the frame’s three-dimen­sional design.

• Increased comfort
  The special midsole design ensures snug footing in the shoe. The foot is pleasantly cradled by the three-dimen­sional frame.

• Light­weight
  The LOWA-MONOWRAP® is made of a plastic called poly­urethane. It is a very light­weight material.

The shoe is equipped with an exchangeable footbed for optimal indi­vidual adjustment and, in combination with the ortho­paedic insoles ErgoPad® work:x and ErgoPad® work:h+ from BAUER­FEIND®, is certified and approved for use as occu­pa­tional footwear in accordance with DIN EN ISO 20347:2012.



Thanks to the two-zone lacing system used in the ZEPHYR MK2 GTX MID, the forefoot and upper have their own separately adjustable lacing zones. As a result, the shoe can be indi­vidually adapted to the anatomy of the foot and laced differently for ascents and descents.


The double-layer midsole is directly injected onto the footwear. The layers include carefully coordinated degrees of rigidity to create the best possible comfort.


The shoe is equipped with lacing hooks with a closed design. The laces are guided securely and cannot slip out of their hooks. Closed lace hooks minimize the risk of the shoe getting caught on objects.



CONSTRUCTION METHODS

Injected Construction

To create optimal cush­ioning and the very best comfort, the soles of LOWA multi­func­tional shoes are directly injected. The complex injection process attaches the slip-lasted upper directly to the sole. This method creates shoes that offer optimal cush­ioning and are partic­ularly light­weight.
