Who we are

We don’t pretend to be gurus. We’re practitioners and curious newcomers in some areas, just like many of our customers. So instead of fancy speeches, we ask a lot about your route and goals, and fit only what you truly need. People respect us for honesty and for explaining complex things in simple words.

How it started

In 2020 we opened a fishing apparel store, FHM — demand for quality fishing suits was high. By 2023 it became clear that fishing alone was too narrow. That’s how Outfish = OUTdoor + FISHing was born, with a steadily expanding range for hiking and active weekends.

Roles & superpowers

• Karina: purchasing, administration, merchandising.
• Igor: content, website, customer service.

Together we cover the full cycle: from ordering and receiving goods to shipping, sales, and post-purchase support.

Igor’s superpower: persistence and long-distance focus — sees processes through to results.
Karina’s superpower: speed and systems — does the same twice as fast and even neater. As a team it works like an engine and a turbocharger.

How we select products (our selection code)

We focus on the product, not the logo. Our experience producing our own models at Chinese factories helps us take items apart “to the bones.”

An industry myth we’ve debunked

“More expensive” doesn’t always mean “better.” At the top shelves, technologies are often similar, while a ×2–×3 price is branding and marketing. Pay for engineering and testing — not for the letters on the chest. We show and compare this in practice — calmly, without snobbery.

Testing & honesty

Our range is still compact — which is why we test everything: city and forest, coastal rain, paddling trips along Irbe and Abava, hikes along the Gauja. Visual checks: water, steam, everyday wear. Yes, that steam/boiling-water and membrane experiment — that’s us.

If an item falls short of expectations, we find a solution together: replacement, fine-tuning, or return. The goal is to get you back into nature — not into an argument.

Looking ahead

Honestly? Over the next 2–3 years — hold our course and build a strong functional core assortment.

In five years we see Outfish as a store-lab: regular expedition tests, a mini workshop for adjustment and repairs, weekend community events, and a showcase of only those pieces that have passed our checks.

Where to find us on weekends

Sea-side hikes: Zvejniekciems — Salacgrīva; Ventspils — Jūrkalne. On foot along the Gauja and Lielupe. Kayak trips on Irbe, Abava, Amata — usually with a fishing rod.
