View full detailsHiking socks for trekking, fishing, travel and everyday outdoor use. This collection includes merino wool socks, warm wool-blend socks, lightweight quick-dry hiking socks, reinforced trekking socks, waterproof membrane socks and neoprene socks for wet or water-based activities.
Merino socks are a type of wool sock, but not every wool sock is merino. Merino wool is especially popular for outdoor use because it is soft, manages moisture well and remains comfortable across changing temperatures. Other wool or wool-blend socks can also provide excellent warmth for winter and lower-intensity use.
Sock thickness should match your footwear and the expected temperature. Too much bulk can reduce circulation and make boots feel tight, while a sock that is too thin may not provide enough cushioning or warmth. For more advice on matching footwear to conditions, read our hiking footwear guide.
For wet trails and fishing, waterproof membrane socks can add another barrier against moisture. Neoprene socks are more suitable when contact with cold water is expected. For a broader range of cold-weather essentials, browse our outdoor accessories.
Warm feet are only one part of a complete cold-weather system. Read Why Do We Still Feel Cold in Good Clothing? for practical guidance on insulation, circulation, moisture and overall winter comfort.
