Tents for Hiking, Backpacking and Camping

Shop tents for hiking, backpacking and camping, from ultralight one-person and two-person trekking tents to waterproof expedition shelters and larger family models. The range covers hiking, cycling trips, touring, car camping and colder-weather setups.

How to Choose a Tent

  • Capacity: choose a one-person, two-person or larger family tent based on the number of sleepers and the space needed for gear.
  • Weight and packed size: these are especially important for hiking and bikepacking. For car camping, interior space and comfort can matter more than minimum weight.
  • Construction: dome, tunnel and other frame layouts differ in wind stability, usable space and setup.
  • Weather protection: check flysheet material, waterproof rating, seam construction and ventilation for the conditions you expect.
  • Season and use: lightweight three-season tents suit many hiking trips, while expedition and specialised cold-weather models are intended for more demanding conditions.

Choose by Capacity and Trip Style

Solo and two-person tents are popular for hiking because they can reduce total weight and packed size. Three- and four-person tents add more living space for couples, families or groups, while larger family tents prioritise comfort and campsite space over backpacking weight.

Compare Real Tent Models by Capacity

For solo hiking, compare Fjord Nansen TROMVIK I NG (1.5 kg). For two people, Fjord Nansen TORDIS II UL (2.2 kg; listed 3,000–6,000 mm waterproof ratings) is an example of a lighter backpacking option. For three people, consider Fjord Nansen SIERRA III COMFORT (4.25 kg; listed 3,000 mm). Always assess packed weight, floor space, weather protection and ventilation as well as sleeping capacity; individual product specifications and availability can change.

Build a Complete Camping Sleep System

Complete your tent setup with a sleeping bag and sleeping pad or camping mat. For extra covered space outside the tent, see camping tarps and canopies.

Buying or Renting a Tent?

If you need a tent only for a short trip, festival or weekend, see our tent and camping gear rental. Rental and purchase serve different intents, so the two pages are kept separate.

Tent or Hammock?

For wooded routes, a hammock can be a compact alternative, while a tent is more universal on open ground and campsites. Read our hammock vs tent guide for a practical comparison. For a real Latvian two-day hike with overnight camping, see 50 kilometres, one night and a first real hike.
