The MKA-21 is compatible with non-QUEST freshwater Minn Kota Ulterra, Terrova, PowerDrive, PowerDrive V2, PowerDrive Pontoon, and DeckHand 40 models. It is not intended for motors with 112 lb of thrust, shafts measuring 72 inches or longer, or Saltwater trolling motors.

On the inland waters of Aukštaitija National Park in Lithuania, the system allows a compatible bow-mounted motor to be installed before fishing and removed when the boat returns to shore. In wet freshwater conditions, the corrosion-resistant composite body and stainless-steel hardware help reduce exposure-related deterioration of the mounting components.
