Pedal Kayaks for Fishing & Hands-Free Propulsion
Pedal kayaks use a foot-operated drive system to move the kayak while keeping your hands available for fishing, steering adjustments and other on-water tasks. This category covers pedal-driven and pedal-ready kayaks for anglers and paddlers looking for an alternative to paddle-only propulsion.
Why choose a pedal kayak?
Hands-free movement: pedal propulsion can make it easier to maintain position or keep moving while handling fishing gear.
Fishing use: pedal kayaks are especially relevant for anglers who frequently cast, troll or reposition on the water.
Control: compare the pedal-drive and steering arrangement when choosing between models.
Transport and storage: consider the kayak's overall dimensions and the additional drive components when planning transport.
Drive systems, steering layouts, included equipment and motor compatibility vary by model. Check the individual product specification before purchase.
Pedal Drive Included or Pedal-Ready: Compare Before Buying
These kayaks differ in whether the pedal unit is included. Check the exact product listing before ordering: the ACTIVE Feelfree LURE 13.5 V2 is explicitly Overdrive Ready (pedals not included), while other ACTIVE models are described with pedal or flipper systems.
Compact fishing: ACTIVE 3 Waters Big Fish 105 PDL is listed at 320 cm long with a ProFish pedal drive and EZ Steer rudder.
Pedal-ready platform: ACTIVE Feelfree LURE 13.5 V2 measures 418 × 92 cm and weighs 54 kg in its listing; buy the Overdrive unit separately if required.
Flipper propulsion: ACTIVE Galaxy Wildcat is a 375 cm fishing kayak with a flipper-style drive, an elevated seat and fishing accessory mounts.
Alternative setups: ACTIVE Big Fish 108 offers pedal-drive compatibility rather than a guaranteed included pedal unit; confirm the package. ACTIVE Feelfree FLASH PD and 3Waters Big Fish 103 are additional pedal-oriented models; check the supplied drive before choosing.
Pedal Kayak FAQ
Does pedal-ready mean pedals are included?
No. A pedal-ready hull supports a compatible drive but the drive may be sold separately. LURE 13.5 V2 explicitly excludes pedals.
What should I compare besides kayak length?
Check hull width, seating position, total transport weight, steering system, load capacity and whether the pedal drive can be removed in shallow water.
Is every kayak in the list available now?
No. The catalogue includes DRAFT models. Verify the current live product, exact drive configuration and inventory before purchase.
